5000 Kilometer Barefoot Guiness World Record Attempt

I suppose this is my introduction, I will go ahead and start by saying I am attempting the Guiness World Record for the longest barefoot hike/ journey. I have over 3100 miles to go to secure the title and I’ve only just begun.

The journey has not been difficult from the very get-go. Before even booking my flight I lost my I.D. and quickly had to get a new one, though was only able to receive a paper copy thus meaning I was not able to fly anymore.

I thought about what to do and eventually realized I can take a train. The ride was long, and to save money on the delay in chicago, I just decided to sleep outside instead of staying in a hostel.

Though I have thousands saved, it takes thousands to hike thousands of miles, as we are looking at about 4000 calories a day which begins to add up over time, so I have to be strict with my budget.

It was a messy process with final prep and I forgot to bring a fork, rope of any sort, or even a raincover for my pack. And i have run out papers for my herbal medicine.Thankfully I have been able to do without so far all these so far, and there are chop sticks everywhere so i dont really need a for haha.

I was delayed a few days before leaving and actually getting in the trail. I met Chem Dawg who is a flip flop through hiker going SOBO which helped pep me up at the hostel in Virginia. The guys at Staminals hostel were also quite cool and helped get me motivated, as I was already having doubt once I realized this would be a six month long journey essentially.

I started the hike in Waynesboro and made it about 3 miles on the trail the first day. The second day it was just too much pain to go on and I only made it 2 miles and nearly decided to quit then and there. Today, on the third day it’s been a little easier.I hiked over 4 miles.

I am going for 10 tommarrow as I must hurry for I will invariably run out of food soon and it’s about 60 miles to the next refill unless I do so.e hitchhiking. Also the winter isn’t far off and I need to be in Alabama by December to beat the snow.

For now, the hike continue on..
