A Letter to Our Loved Ones

Dear Our Most Loved Ones,

We can’t believe this day is here,  but we will be leaving for 6 months to embark on our Appalachian journey. Molly and I want to thank you for always being supportive and eagerly following us where ever we go. We know that if it were up to you, you would be right by our sides. As our trip gets closer and our packs get fuller our excitement is increasing every day. Unfortunately, we are also trying to prepare ourselves for the separation anxiety (hopefully we don’t chew on any shoes). It will be very difficult to get used to our lives without your constant company and cute faces.

We appreciate all the love you have given us in the months preceding our departure. All the car rides, play dates, and face licks will be frequently and fondly remembered while we walk the next 2000 miles. Anshi and Stella, over the last two years you have brought a tremendous amount of joy to our lives and we are not sure how we will do without it. We are sure we have left you in good hands and hope you will hardly even notice we are gone. With you two in our lives we have been throughly trained for some challenges of the trail; we are accustomed to being crowded while sleeping, we know to never to leave food lying around, and we’ve learned to accept that everything will always covered in dirt.

Thank you for occasionally listening, frequently licking, and unconditionally loving.

They try to sabotage the trip with cuteness.

They tried to sabotage the trip using cuteness.                                    It almost worked.

To all our family and friends, thank you for being so supportive and excited for our trip! Thank you for all you have done to contribute to our experience. Whether it was a shared meal, a few words of support, or even donated goods (although we hope that the bear spray was just given to us on loan). Even the questions, doubts and concerns are appreciated as they have helped us prepare more.

Thank you all! Hope to update you soon with some great pictures and good stories!

-Liz and Molly
