An Intro-Through The Looking Glass & The Wonderland Trail 2023

Hiker Introduction

That Makes Three of Us:

Shannon: My name is Shannon (aka Wheezy Rabbit). I am a Colorado Trail thru-hiker, AT section hiker, UL nerd, rock climber, trail runner, explorer, artist, and most importantly a mom. My family and I are heading out to the Wonderland Trail this 2023 season in hopes of completing it with our little one in tow. I am hoping to share our highs and lows while prepping for and hiking this bucket list trail together.

Elian: Elian is the love of my life whom I have known for 13-ish years. He is primarily a badass climber, DMB & U2 lover, musician, photographer, traveler, hiker, board game aficionado, and an absolutely stellar father and life partner. The Wonderland Trail will be his first long distance/ thru hike.

Jude: Jude is the newest member of our family. He is a professional eater, smiler, snuggle bug, hiking buddy, and future crusher. At the time I am writing this, he is about two and a half months old. He joined this earth on September 20th, 2022, and nothing will ever be the same. He will be almost a year old when we take on Mount Rainier.

Through The Looking Glass:

We are firm believers in the idea that having a child doesn’t mean you give up what you love. Instead, we are choosing to share our passions and accomplishments with our son. We both have shifted our goals but not let them go, as we want to teach our kid to be headstrong and seek what sets his soul on fire. Furthermore, there is absolutely nowhere I would rather be than in the backcountry with my family. Choosing to hike The Wonderland Trail was done so with a few things in mind; Jude’s age, the time of year, location, total distance, difficulty, access to resupply/ bail out points, etc. I couldn’t be more excited to share our process and experience with not only our family and friends, but also with anyone who is curious about where we find successes, failures, and changes we make.
