3 Days of Rain Equals a Stay at Ron Haven’s Budget Inn
Ron Haven, local trail angel from Franklin, NC runs a free shuttle for hikers from the trail to his fine lodging establishments, and its an experience worth checking out just for Ron’s stories. The guy wrestled Rick Flair, and he aint kidding on that.
After leaving TOG hostel on Monday the weather has been consistent rain and when everything you own is wet a stay at the Budget Inn sounds wonderful. Besides the rain, myself and fellow thru hikers Selfie, Juice, Icarus, Hulk (19 yr old girl), Turbo, Stink Jacket, and Physch all crossed into North Carolina and passed the 100 mile mark! We have completed over 5% of the trail in a little over a week.
Next up is Fontana Village, NC and the southern entrance to the Smoky Mountains National Park.
