52 Pick Up… Gear Edition

My Appalachian Trail Gear List

With less than 12 days (is this real life) until I climb a bus and ride to Atlanta, I decided now would be a good time to calm my nerves and look through my gear for the 2748th time.

roxy

  1. Roxy!

Just kidding. My little nugget will not be joining me but I will miss her more than she knows.

The Big Picture

allthethings

Say Cheese! Oh, you’re inanimate objects… well…smile anyways.

And here is everything squished into one picture! I will admit, my pack is a little on the heavy side granted a few of the bigger items I had were hand-me-downs and definitely not considered Ultra Lightweight Gear. I’m topping off at 30 lbs. base weight before water and food, and while heavier than I would like, it IS my home for the next 6 months and I’m grateful no matter what.

That’s all folks!

looks good you might conciser ditching the
Light My Fire Meal Kit 2.0 and the maps, the AT guide is all you need.
Also you could switch the filter for a sawyer or aqua mira and switch the bladder for two one liter disposable water bottles. overall looks like a good complete kit.

thanks for the advice! I did end up ditching the Meal Kit. I didn’t even consider that before but that was a good suggestion. I’m now a little lighter! haha. And I just bought the maps because I enjoy reading them 🙂 It’s a nice bonus to see the elevation for each day.

Could you tell me what size stuff sack you’re using for your cloths? It looks like maybe 13L from the pic but I’m not sure.

Wow, thank you, I’m looking to do this hike starting in March and been looking at videos on YouTube and all I’m finding are people who must have a load of money going ultra light. It’s nice to see that some people start out with packs weighting more then 12lbs..
Hope you had a great hike
