A rocket in town (Day 138)
Because we didn’t make it all the way to the intended camp site last night, we had to puzzle a bit with our plan to hike Mount Moosilauke – the first mountain of the White Mountains.
We decided to hike 5 miles and go to Hikers Welcome hostel and do 15 miles including the mountain tomorrow with a slackpack.
The 5 miles were easy and done quickly. At the road crossing we got picked up by No Joke, the care taker for Hikers Welcome this season. Before he brought us, he showed us the enormous rocket in the center of town. American towns are something else!
The atmosphere at the hostel was relaxed. I read my book, played some frisbee, sat in the sun and we did a little barbecuing. We’re rested up for a big day tomorrow!
