All My Gear is Blue and Other Thoughts While Packing for My Hike

I’m less than two weeks out from hitting the trail. And as I’ve been gathering my gear, one thing has become quite evident to me. Let’s see if you notice the trend as well.

Just some tunes (written by yours truly) to get us into the mood.

Definitely going to win a Grammy for that one. Forget Taylor Swift, Molly Bybee is in town.

However, what does one do with all blue gear? Obviously they do a photo shoot!!

Blue rain jacket and bandana but no blue pockets, a total travesty

Oh look! A blue puffy and buff

Oh look! More blue!

I’m obviously meant to be a model. Forget long-distance hiking.

I just like blue so much!

Blue feet not to be forgotten. (Someone must have told me once that this pose was sexy)

I’m the Captain Morgan of blue, but minus being a dude and having something to place my camp shoes on.

Yay all blue gear!

You should probably just start calling me Blues Clues.

But no worries, blue isn’t just limited to my clothes. The following gear is also blue:

  • Pack
  • Both sleeping bags I’m trying to decide between
  • Food bag
  • Sleep shirt
  • Water filter
  • Water bottle
  • Toothbrush
  • Bic lighter
  • Headlamp

I would like to thank women’s hiking gear companies for making my dream of blue-dom possible. I admit that I’m predisposed to select it (my mother always told me it matched my eyes). However, without the lack of selection in colors (I’m not a pink and lavender girl), this would not have been possible.

Note that most my co-ed items (i.e. tent, sleeping pad, Jetboil) are all different colors. Obviously men like colors other than blue, pink, and lavender. Go figure…

(I would like to thank my mother for furthering my dream of modeling and serving as my photographer during this shoot)
