Trail-Inspired Ink: Appalachian Trail Tattoos, Portfolio I

Our recent call for thru- hike-inspired tattoos garnered an overwhelming response. So many that we’ll be publishing two posts on AT tattoos and one for PCT tattoos, along with other trail-inspired ink. In sorting out the 60+ pictures, we started seeing trends for the most popular trail ink.

You’ve got your trail logos, iconic mountain ranges, blazes, trail lines, mileage, and wildlife. And like all tattoos, these are unique and individualized to the person’s wants and aesthetics. The creativity and artistry is to be admired. Enjoy!

The tattoo is of Katahdin, Franconia Ridge, and a sunrise I saw in the Presidential Range between Washington and Adams. It’s based off photographs that I took from my thru-hike, but the tattoo artist combined the mountains.
