AT 1: Georgia on my Mind

A heads up: photos shared on this blog will typically be from my iPhone 7. Nearly all of the photos taken with my dslr will be stockpiled until I finish the trail and can post-process them

Georgia: 78.2 Miles & 6 Days
Total Miles: 78.2
Total Days: 6
Miles Remaining: 2112.1

**At time of posting: Mile 100 / Day 10 (zero day)

There’s a lot you can find on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia…

Trailside clothing

you can find clothing scattered along the trail as potential thru-hikers frantically try to lessen the weight of their packs… *if you pack it in, pack it out! Huge pet peeve!!!

Overhang shelter

sometimes, you will find boulders and rock ledges in your path…

By Koty Sapp

occasionally, you’ll find yourself wandering through Mountain-laurel and Rhododendron thickets…

By Koty Sapp

you could find yourself eating a peanut mm and peanut butter tortilla while enjoying the view with a dude named Sandles…

By Koty Sapp

then you might find that the only water source for miles is a tiny natural spring with barely enough room to retrieve water from it…

By Koty Sapp

every once in while you can find spectacular views that make every step worth it…

By Koty Sapp

that later on lead you to think you have the coolest shelter on the AT…

By Koty Sapp

if you’re like me, you might find that it’s better to spend the night alone…

By Koty Sapp

because you might find that shelters are filthy, overcrowded areas…

By Koty Sapp

you will find that Blood Mountain is a hell of a mountain…

By Koty Sapp

but once again you’ll find that all of your hard work is rewarded with beautiful landscapes…

By Koty Sapp

and lots of rocks to walk on…

By Koty Sapp

some days you can find yourself walking in the clouds…

By Koty Sapp

and other days you can find yourself walking through miles of burned forest…

By Koty Sapp

but for all the things you can find on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia… what you won’t find is an easy way out. Georgia is home to some hellacious terrain that wears potential thru-hikers down physically and mentally. Many don’t ever make it out of the state as it puts an end to their journey, but this guy… this guy right here has conquered it and is on to the next leg of the Appalachian Trail.

1 state down, 13 to go…
