Catching Up

I’m a little behind on the blog-posting element of my thru-hike.

The last 13 days (and 105 miles) on the Appalachian Trail have been eye-opening to say the least. Several days of cold, drenching rain, a half-dozen of the juiciest blisters, and my aggressive consumption of Snickers Bars and ramen are all sobering reminders that I have definitely left the comforts of “normal” life.

So instead of writing, I’ve spent the last two weeks growing accustomed to new norms: camp setup and breakdown, proper hydration and caloric consumption, and of course, the physical act of hiking itself. Despite some of the challenges I’ve faced as a novice thru-hiker, I’m learning more every day. And I’m having fun too. Even my toughest days have been incredibly (and especially) rewarding.

This post is intended to be a general introduction/my own practice for using the Trek blogging platform. I’m looking forward to writing in a more detailed and in-depth fashion as I gain experience along the trail. Thanks for reading. More to come.
