Day 34

Day 34, 6/1/23

Iron mountain shelter to Broken Fiddle Hostel

26.5, mile 471

Thankfully we did not have the bears come visit us last night! We did have three deer hanging around but not much through the night.

We successfully hiked the Damascus marathon! I’m tired but proud of us for doing it. I haven’t decided if we will take a zero tomorrow or not, that will be a decision for the morning. We ran into two brothers from England that we have been flip flopping with a lot. Their names are Wallace and Gromet, which is quite fitting. They yelled at us across the street as we were walking to the hostel and we went over to talk with them for a bit. I got six ice cream bars from Dollar General and Kev and I split them. We are at the Damascus diner right now and my dinner is quite sad because of the cross contamination I could not even get the burger toppings. Having celiac on the trail really sucks to be honest but I’m managing okay. Kevin got chicken and waffles. Damascus is a true “trail town” and it is where the Trail Days festival is located.
