Day 4/ into NC

Day 4

16.7 mile day
From dicks creek gap to Standing Indian shelter. My biggest day yet. When you look out over a vista and and what you think are clouds are actually mountains, you know this is a special place.
My food bag was 12 pounds this morning, my biggest yet. My pack came in at 44 pounds. I am keeping pretty much the same pace as 35lbs. It’s all a mental game to get me to eat more. Lots of great people in my hiker “group” that seems to be keeping my similar pace. Some great trail magic from a ministry outside of Athens. Some beans, sausage and rice with a sprite and little Debbies made me fly up to the shelter. When I eventually start doing some trail magic, I would like to be known as a trail devil. Giving out beer is what I would do.
Some other good fortune came my way at camp. Champagne Jane I believe his trail name gave me his spare pot coozy for mountain house and ziplock meals. It is something I have been wanting before starting the trail and planning my food.
