Days 1 – 8: Amicalola Water Falls – Nantahala Outdoor Center
What an overwhelming trip this is so far! Mostly I think doing such a long distance hike is about learning: from others and just from trying. And learning from the mistakes I made. On day 4 I pushed too far, doing 29 miles. No good idea. On the first days I didn’t eat enough. And the wrong stuff. But I learned. Some words about the people – mostly they are incredible. Friendly. Helpful. The guy who gave us some grapes – he made 3 men as happy as we could be. It’s the small things you learn to appreciate… When I hike I feel how just a little bit of water energizes my whole body…
