The Early Days!
Quotes of the week:
“Everytime I see people it’s like trick or treating”
“‘Mountain House makes biscuits and gravy. I want to buy it just because it’s biscuits and gravy…. Made in Vietnam!’
‘What do the Vietnamese know about biscuits and gravy’?
‘Huh, I was talking about my hat'”
Today is day 5. Today is the day I cross over into North Carolina. Today is the first day I have seen rain other than a few showers in the middle of the night.
The early days have flown by. Georgia is just as brutal and gorgeous as it’s always been. I have already met so many cool people, some thru-hikers and some sectioning. Other than my knees asking me what the hell I am doing every now and then, it has been AMAZING!
I have received my trail name, Sargeant Moth Balls. I have been called a slave driver, drill Sargeant, sheep herder. I’m not sure if I can honestly take offense to any of this, lol. My best friend Andrea is Hooter, just because of her owl obsession.
Our food selections have worked perfectly. I have managed to have my morning coffee every day. I haven’t noticed any major gear issues. I am, in a word, happy. I have just been absorbing every view possible! And the trail magic, of course!
This post is a little short, but the next won’t be. North Carolina, here I come!
