Erwin and bust?
Day 50
Erwin Zero
Card of the day – none
Happy Birthday Kegstand! We all got breakfast at Maccies (I had some sweet bread thing called a McGriddle) and then we hit the resupply at Food City.
We sang happy birthday with a cupcake outside the store and I’m sure people thought we were crazy. After this it was town chores like laundry and I just chilled in my room for a while.
Why is my food bag still so full? Well maybe it has something to do with the amount of snacks I have.
So let’s talk about the resupply process!!! It’s fair to say I got it really wrong coming out of Hot Springs. I’m never eating Ramen and mash potatoes as long as I live. I also don’t think I got the balance right between meals and snacks, and the 6 day window I would be on trail between time.
This time as I get ready to leave for 3 nights my food bag is again full. Some of this is due to the fact you bulk buy in super markets, and some of it is just because I brought to much. What I really need to do is look at how much I actually eat each day and buy appropriately.
The 6 pack of beer surly don’t help!
Any way I was chatting to my mum on WhatsApp, and that always cheers me up.
Later in the day I was also able to chat to my dad and 2 of my sisters. I must admit to feeling a little home sick after this.
The trip to Erwin was expensive, and we need to try not to hit town on a Sunday when everything is closed moving forward. I hope however Kegstand enjoyed her birthday!
