Fresh Trim and feeling good!

Day 67

Trimpi Shelter to Marion 10 miles – AT mile 534.6

Card of the day – XI Justice

Oh my did it rain!  My tent held up well but my pack is laying in a puddle!  Fortunately I’d put the rain cover over it so no real damage was done.  Fortunately at some point the rain had stopped so at least I could pack up my camp without getting wet, although packing a wet tent means my pack will just be heavy and wet any way.

I got out by just after 8, one day maybe I’ll get better at this, or just wake up earlier as sunrise gets earlier.

We started out in woodlands and the light through the trees was magical.  Shortly after I passed a field of cows.  As per they were right on trail and had no plans of scooching over so I had to go round.

The path through the field was far from straight, I guess the landowner just wanted us to meander for a while and appreciate the beauty?

Some days you get all the views, and some days you get views of clouds.  Today was the latter, but hay, at least there was a bench to sit on to admire the view of said clouds!

I bumped into Little bear, who said she liked my beard, Momma bear told me there is a barbers in town!  I’m not sure of she was trying to drop a hint (I’m joking).  However the chance of a haircut before trail days was one thing I was not going to miss out on.  Thank you Marion!

They had a shuttle set up and gave me a lift into town which was good of them.

Then I hit a Hotel and got clean! Like 45 mins shower and another one kind of clean.

Clothes washed followed by two burgers at maccies and then into town for a hair cut.  I was a very happy boy!  I’d arranged to need the bears for dinner and my hotel was 45 mins walk over town so I hit the local bar to kill an hour or so.  I got chatting to two guys in the bar who brought my beer!  They are heading to trail days so I hope to repay the favour!  I’m still blown away by the generosity of strangers!

I had a fantastic dinner with the bears, Momma Bear and I had stake!  Man I’ve missed stake.  I’m really going to miss those guys.  They think it will be a week till I catch them, I think it will be more like a month!  Let’s hope they are more right than I am.

On the walk home I did a resupply at Ingles so I don’t have to walk up there on Monday.  That may or may not have been a good idea in hindsight, but hay, either way I’m not short of snacks for trail days!

I’m not sure if I’ll blog about trail days, depends on how much of a Bacchanalia it turns out to be!  Happy Trails!
