Fundraiser for Southern Appalachia: 100% of Proceeds Donated for the Next 72 Hours
As we’re sure you’re well aware by now, Hurricane Helene has brought catastrophic damage to southern Appalachia, including many communities central to the Appalachian Trail, including Hot Springs, Erwin, Damascus, and beyond. These places hold a special place in our hearts for the warmth and hospitality they’ve offered to countless AT hikers over the years.
It’s still early in the recovery process—right now, rescue and damage control are the top priorities. It will be some time before rebuilding can begin. While we wait for that phase, we want to step up and do our part to support relief efforts already underway.
From now through October 3rd, 100% of the proceeds from any purchase made through The Trek’s store will be donated directly to relief efforts focused on North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Virginia—three regions hardest hit by this storm. The funds will be divided equally among the following organizations (as recommended by the ATC):
Note: During this fundraiser, we’ll still allow exchanges but won’t be able to process refunds.
We also pulled together a list of organizations helping in these relief efforts if you would prefer to donate directly.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this devastating storm, and we’ll be working closely with these communities in the weeks and months ahead to help rebuild.
