General repetition before the Whites (Day 137)

Pine cones start falling from the tree, almost hitting us in the head. Fine, fine, we’re getting out of here. We’re starting with more steep and rocky climbs. The terrain reminds us of the rock plates in New York.

Appetizer for the Whites

The last two mountains before the Whites start are Mount Smarts and Mount Cube. They gave us a little taste of what we might expect in the White Mountains. They’re a little more technical than we have done before. The lunch on top of the fire tower was very cool though.

Howdy been following you too most of ur adventure! Great pics and narrative that has really become stellar. I hope you can get the Whites done and go to up to Katahdin. Time is running out to complete a thru hike this yr. A thru hiker died a few weeks ago descending I. This may be an even more incentive to o close ascents before 10/15. I am older multiple thru hiker w experience living on Northeast Mt and winter adventures in Baxter in Winter. Baxter winter adventures are involved and requires equipment inspection, signing agreement to pay for rescue etc. all rangers in Baxter ate committed to protecting the resources and people there. They have a tendency to o be cautious re weather. Not heartless but almost zealous in commitment. Hoping you can complete trail this year. Its ok to do a flip the lop if sorts to meet your goal.
