Georgia On My Mind

I am writing this from my first off trail stop. I smell -but of soap and shampoo not sweat and body odor! Yeah! Clothes have been washed, more blisters supplies bought, pack re-packed and breakfast will be supplied by the hotel in the morning. Life is good.

We (my trail friend Alan and I) will be picked up by a shuttle driver for the return trip to Neel’s Gap. We got here due to the help of some awesome section hikers who overheard my many fruitless calls to shuttle drivers and offered us a ride. Our destination was in Blairsville and not on their way, but they took us anyway. That is a trail angel moment. We have hade several such moments. Running Bear (careful of the spelling) and his crew made us hot dogs and gave out water, chips, sandwiches and upbeat support. They also provided chairs to sit in. That is a huge luxury when you are mostly perched on rocks or sitting on the ground. I have met many people, one owl, and seen some great spring flowers.
It is late and I need to sleep so here are some pictures to enjoy for now. More soon.

(No trail name for me yet although I did give Alan his – Faceplant. He managed one at the beginning of his hike and his taped glasses prove he earned the moniker!)
