Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

What’s a girl to do about her hair?  There’ll be no gels, mouse, sprays, blow dryers or curling iron going in the backpack and the salon shampoo basin is far from the trail; well, that is until the trail leads through town, but it can be a long, hot, sweaty distance to the next town.

Pulling it back or piling it up in a bun will keep the neck cooler when the going gets hot.  Leaving it down, the hair can be a makeshift scarf around a cold neck.  Shorter is easier to clean and takes less time to dry.  Shave it off?  That’s a scary and bold choice.  No maintenance issues and hey, it’ll grow back. Oh how nice a bottle of cold spring water poured over the hot hiker head will feel this summer!

Choices….choices….this girl, she’s going to take the easy way and taking the short cut.
