Getting Ready
Although this may not look like getting ready, I assure you, I am ready. Recently dropped at Hiker Hostel by the stupendous Duffy, around 2pm, I’m ready to rise at dawn and rally the troops.
So, I’ll be hiking NOBO, obviously. I’m skipping the approach trail because I’m too damn excited to get out there, I’m sure purists can forgive me. Hiker hostel has a great deal: fly into Atlanta airport, take the MARTA red line until it ends, North and they take you to the hostel and the trail head. Love these guys! Here’s the back of their place. Swanky RIGHT?
So here’s my shit
Yes, the elusive pack list. Featured below is my pack list. I’ll itemize it in good time. In the meantime, here you go, my stuff. Not pictured is my phone, two trekking poles, and 2 1 litre smart water bottles.
So that’s all of my possessions, let’s get to mail drops. How many do I have and why? I begrudgingly have 6 mail drops. I feel the cost of postage and hassel of going to a post office isn’t worth the time of planning out each stop along the way. Things change, tastes changes, and so do plans. In my opinion, it’s better to tough it in town. That being said, I followed Zach Davis and his wisdom of the 6 towns that blew as far as resupply is concerned. Check that shit out here.
That’s all for now folks
I expect to get a good night’s rest, wake at 730 for breakfast and be on the trail no later than 9am. Weather is supposed to hold, so I’m hoping for that.
See you in Maine!
