I’m Kind Of Freaking Out A Little Here

A couple weeks ago I reserved my spot in the Hiker Hostel and booked my flight to Atlanta, so all I have left is to replace my tent and get confirmation of my leave of absence from work. I’ve been in the planning/dreaming stage of this hike for years, I’ve known for at least the last two years I’d be hiking in 2016 and yet, there’s something about making reservations and buying plane tickets that adds a certain degree of finality to the whole thing. Suddenly this all seems so much more real.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still so excited I can barely contain it, but I’m also freaking out a little. I’ve spent time on trail, I have a pretty good idea of what I’m getting myself in to but I’m still so nervous and honestly a little afraid. I have some massive pre-hike jitters and I’ve still got 5 months of waiting.

I’m going to be a mess by March…

All of that will be gone within the first mile. Savor all of it, including the build up. It will be all over before you even realize it.
