It’s About That Time

So many things to do.. so little time. Today equals one month until it all begins. The actual hiking part that is. Months of preparation will finally pay off (at least that IS that idea) and I will be well on my way. I feel like I’ve been slacking lately as far as ensuring everything is 100%. All gear has been received, most has been tested, and now it just sits scattered all over the guest bedroom. Although I have an idea of how much my base weight is, it would be a good idea to figure out the best way to go about packing up Louise (Yes, the Osprey 65L has already been named) and figuring out that exact weight. I feel like I’ve added so many “necessities” since my last shake down hike. We will see if they are indeed necessities once I hit Neels Gap 30-ish miles in. The hiking part is the fun part but I can’t say I’ve enjoyed all the other details that have went along with it (leases, car decisions, health insurance, etc.).  I’m anxious, excited, intimidated… if it’s an emotion, I’ve probably had it over the last month. Let me just say… Can we get this show on the road?!? Let’s do the damn thing!

Good luck on your adventure. On mine too. Early April I head south to Amicalola from West Virginia to walk north until I get to the end or to the point that I don’t want to do it anymore. I need to test my gear some more and finalize what I will be carrying and get the show on the road.
