Last minute Gear List

With less than 48 hours until I hit the trail my gear is finally coming together.  I’m most likely missing a crucial piece of gear that will save my life but for now this is what I plan on starting my hike with.

Essentials

• Shelter: Tarptent ProTrail – 31oz with aluminum support poles

(This is Home for the next 5 months)

• Pack: Hyperlight Mountain Gear 3400 Southwest 55 L – 32 oz

• Bag: Enlightened Equipment Enigma Quilt – 21 oz
• Sleeping Pad: Nemo Astro 20R Insulated -19 oz
• Water Filter : Sawyer Squeeze – 3oz
• Stove: MSR Pocket Rocket – 4oz
• Rain Jacket: Marmot PreCip
• Black Diamond Head Lamp
• Snow Peak 1400 mL TI Pot – 7 oz
• Nalgene 32oz Water Bottle
• Light My Fire Titanium Spork  .7oz
• Outdoor Research Stuff Sack
• REI compression stuff sack
• First Aid Kit
• Ear Plugs (Vital to avoid hearing mice in the shelters)

• Sea to Summit 10L Folding Bucket – 1 oz
• Sea to Summit Silk Liner – 5 oz
• Buff Headband / RMNP Bandana
• Sandals
• Lawson Equipment Titanium Deuce Scoop – .75oz (Honestly only bought this because of the name)

Et cetera

• Mountain House Three Berry Cobbler (This is over 10 years old but will be a great meal to start the AT)
• Wood Spoon
• Aluminum Foil Wind Screen (Hopeful but probably won’t work very well)
• Bic Lighters
• Journal / Pencil
• Mirror
• Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrush
• Rope (At least 75 ft – Bears will have to work hard to get my food bag)
• Pocket Knife

My list isn’t all inclusive but this just about covers it. After cramming all this gear into my pack in addition to 5 days worth of food my pack weighs in at 28 LBs! (That includes 1 lb of peanut butter…) My goal was for under 30 so now I have nothing stopping me from 20 mile days.  Off to Springer!
