Nausea is normal… Right?

This morning I was thinking about the trail. Obviously. I am super nervous right now, so nervous I start to feel a little nauseous. But that’s ok, it’s fine for me to be nervous. This morning I was so nervous I was shaking in my boots, so to speak.

Or shaking in my wet trail runners...

Or shaking in my wet trail runners…

Its not not like im not 100% committed to the trail, or that I feel like I’m not going to make it… It’s mostly just that it’s totally normal to be nervous

Eric and I went on a training hike his Saturday. We went somewhere between 8.2 and 10.5 miles depending on if you believe the trail maps or the gps. And we made it just fine! It was challenging, pouring rain, and my feet were pruny and sensitive by the end of it but I made it, and Eric made it. I had even filled up my pack with one of the mail drops I’ve prepared, 8 days worth of food.

But still nervousness. I know I made the right decision; I know that I am completely and 100% capable of walking the length of the Appalachian Trail, and give me a few hours and I’ll be wiggling in my seat again, too anxious to get started to bear it. It’s all a part of the process for me.

Just wait until I actually stand on Springer… I might throw up!

(PS this is my first time posting from mobile! I’m Trying to get the hang of it before the trail… It’s annoying! Guess I’ll have to pack a laptop!)

I am feeling the same. At least you have support and encouragement to fall back on and a partner who is going to hike with you. Enjoy!

Yay you! Three plus weeks into our (not physically grueling) adventure, I can relate to the apprehension, the excitement, and the antsiness for the next bit. I’m so happy for you!
