Old Dominion Blues Pt. 2
Day 28
I decided to leave Holy Family Hostel. Crowba decided to take a zero, so we said goodbye, and I went on my way.
Twig dropped me off at the trailhead at noon, and I got to the shelter at 8:00.

Wintergreen View
To sum all these days up, these past few days were some of the hardest on trail. Virginia is so incredibly long with no end in sight. The constant ups and downs never end. Hikers are lulled into a false sense of security with the ponies just past Damascus. Very quickly things change, and the trail becomes the green tunnel it’s known for. It also doesn’t help that there seems to be less hostels, so I haven’t had that same hiker to hiker interaction that I was being spoiled to south of Virginia. All in all, Virginia has tested my mental fortitude to the max, and I can now understand why so many others quit in this state. This is miserable.
