Oops, I packed for the AT again!

So, I started out researching the Benton Mackaye Trail in hopes of getting my trail legs back since it’s been a few years … then I decided on the comfort of a well-known trail. I wanted the familiarity of the Appalachian Trail after all. I’ll admit it. I’m scared of the dark and wanted to begin the AT with peace of mind and not camping alone…

I’m not sure if I’m doing a LASH or entertaining the idea of a thru, but here we go!

So….. here’s what’s in pack!

  • REI quarter dome tent
  • Feathered Friends 20° sleeping bag
  • Neoair sleeping pad
  • Black diamond 400 lumen headlamp
  • Black diamond trekking poles
  • Hygiene
  • Camp and hiking clothes
  • Must have- CROCS
  • 6 days of food
  • UL camp towel
  • Power bank
  • Ibuprofen and osteobiflex
  • My trusty pack I got for Christmas back in 2014
  • A few other odds and ins

My base weight is 22lbs. So much better than my 2015 thru-hike weight averaging 30 to 35lbs. Too bad it’s going to take me quite a bit to get my trail legs because I’m now way out of shape. It’s actually embarrassing to say the least.

I’m staying at Amicalola Lodge for the weekend and then Monday my shuttle will be picking me up and off to Springer I go!

This is my first blog post in about 5 years, so be patient as I get the hang of it again. I will definitely be updating throughout my hike.

Sarge is signing out!
