Pre-Trail Gear List

With my start date fast approaching I FINALLY gathered together my final pre-trail gear list. I’ve been collecting gear for a few years now and am so thankful to have amazing employers at Atmosphere who provided me with some sweet gear! I’m really excited about what I’m bringing but I’m even more excited to see how my list changes on the trail. I am so ready for this adventure to begin!

The Big Three

Pack:

  • Gregory Deva 60L AKA Bertha
I really love this pack. Although it’s on the heavier side I found a lot of other pros with this pack. It fits me very well is still super comfortable when it’s all loaded up and it’s back ventilation is fantastic.

Tent:

  • Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2
When it came down to choosing a tent I legit made a spread sheet because I’m intents (also fun-knee). I wrote down all the specs that I was interested in to compare 6 different tents. The Fly Creek hit the mark. It provided the most space for the lightest weight. I seriously love this little tent.

Sleeping Bag:

  • MEC Aquilina -7C
Down. Down. Down. 575 fill to be exact. This bag packs down to 7.3L and weighs 35 ounces. I’ve used it in various conditions and it’s always kept me nice and toasty! I’m bringing a sea-to-summit xtherm reactor liner to accompany it.

Hey Lisa! I hiked the AT in 2015 from Vermont to Maryland and you’d be surprised at how little you need. First one long sleeve shirt is enough. I’d go with either the leggings or the fleece pants. Ditch the lotion the baby wipes and the hand sanitizer. Also leave your trail runners at home and have someone send them when you need them. Also the journal and bible are excess weight. If you want to take notes you can always do so on your phone. Which also makes your iPod unnecessary. Try swapping out your nalgene for a smart water bottle it’s much lighter. That’s about it. Have fun and enjoy your hike!

That sounds heavy. Curious what all that weighs?

Jesus, puns, and chocolate, yay! And cats! Winter, sometimes…but I think we would be friends! 😀 Yes, I’d like to know your pack weight as well. Thanks for your gear list, there are some things on it I wasn’t familiar with and I will check them out.
