Rain, Rain, Go Away!

I made it 100 miles! So how were my first ten days on trail? Filled with trail magic, neros, and new friends. As well as unexpected changes.

I knew better than to come out here with an expectation of how my hike would pan out but I surely didn’t expect consistent days of rain. But it has resulted in some hysterical memories and awesome town stays. It’s also made the sunny days that much more amazing.

I can’t thank the trail angels enough for everything they do for the hikers. I specifically want to thank Jimmy, I Believe, Fresh Ground, and Snap for making the first week scaries so much easier. Oh, and for keeping us well fed.

This journey so far has been anything but easy and I’d be lying if I said I never thought, “What the hell am I doing out here?” But I’m so grateful for every minute out here on trail. It’s not supposed to be easy.

We’ll be entering the Smokies in a couple of days and I’m ready to kick some mountain butt!

I found singing rain songs helps – Who’ll Stop The Rain, Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, When the Levee Breaks, etc.
