Rain to Maine
We had a great time hiking into Duncannon Pa. where we met and spent time with Bob Rogers and Michaela Canaday. We stayed at the Famous Doyle Hotel one night then hiked up the mountain out of Duncannon . Rocks have not slacked by any means and I’m getting pretty good at navigation of mazes, climbs, and downhills. We caught a shuttle to the Best Western for a well deserved first zero day. We then leave our hotel of two nights to hike from Pa 325 to Rausch Gap Shelter. Rain is expected today and throughout the week. The shelter was full so we chose to camp beside the stream in the tenting area. Beautiful, beautiful until the thunderstorm hit during the night.
We survived the storm and were ready to move on to William Penn Shelter. Arriving first we had a chance to dry out our tent and other gear. The sun actually came out for the afternoon. The next morning all dry we started on our way when the sky opened and mightily dumped water on us until we were drenched before we could get out our rain gear!
We continued to hike to the 501 Shelter to change into dry clothes and get warm. We stayed the night to recover. Ten people were at the shelter that night we ordered pizza to be delivered and with all the good company huddled in for the night.
Tanner, the dog seemed to be the happiest camper of all.
