Raising Little Gypsies

best

Good Morning Adventure! I’m Stephanie and I spent my childhood in the heart of Florida running wild through the woods, swimming in the crystal clear rivers and tea colored lakes. The song of the mountains was heard early in my life, as my grandmother was born and raised in the Appalachians.   Some of my earliest memories are the earthy, damp, smells of the mountains, the way the rhododendrons transport you into a fairy forest, and lady slippers were a much sought after treasure. Sleeping in a tent was our idea of fun vacations, and meals eaten outside tasted the best.

My Childhood was magical…so of course I wanted to make sure my children enjoyed the same “magic”

Joseph and I have been blessed with five of the most loving, adventurous, and lighthearted children you can imagine. Each one has been gifted with unique talents that come together to make life in our little tribe anything but ordinary.

I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travels sake. The great affair is to Go! ~Robert Louis Stevenson.

We have gypsie blood or so goes the tale passed down from my mother’s side.  The call to Go is pulsing through our veins!

In just a few weeks our newest journey will begin for myself, Jack(10), and Anderson(8) at Springer Mountain.

I am fortunate to be married to a man who has encouraged me to listen to adventure’s siren song and travel with our children. My little gypsies and I have countless memories of our trips over the years. From freezing in our tent in South Dakota on the 4 of July, to laughing through a lightning storm in Virginia with all five trying to climb in my bag with me. I am eagerly anticipating the new memories to be made and the fun to be had.

Come along with us. We will be partners in the adventure, commiserate in the misery and share in the joy of the hike.

Until next time…Happy Trails!

Stephanie, Jack & Anderson

I really liked your post…going camping with my children is lots of work, but so much FUN!! Tackling the trail with a couple of boys should be quite an adventure!
Looking forward to the next installment!
