Recovering from Norovirus on the AT

In her most recent episode, The Trek Vlogger Blossom updated us on her shoe swap, leaving behind her old shoes for a new pair of Topos. Like most hikers breaking in a new pair of shoes, Blossom has formed some intense blisters, causing her to struggle both physically and mentally. She decides to take another zero in the hopes that her feet with heal; however, she begins to feel defeated by the number of zeros she has taken on trail, leaving her to question whether or not she will make it to Maine in time.

If battling the pain that comes from aching blisters wasn’t enough, Blossom fell sick with what she believes was norovirus. She experienced vomiting, the inability to stomach food and liquids, and had other similar symptoms of the virus. Blossom is not alone in her experience, as several other AT hikers have caught and recovered from the virus.

After resting up and recovering, Blossom returned to the trails with an uplifted attitude and a renewed spirit. Make sure to watch her full video for more AT trail updates.
