Sometimes It Is All Sunshine And Rainbows

Finally! A rainy day to test my rain gear.

I’ve been waiting for a rainy day that isn’t too cold to test my rain gear for the trail.  It’s been pretty cold and snowy recently (I live in Columbia County, New York) so I haven’t had much of a chance to bust out my rain pants and jacket yet.

Today was finally the perfect opportunity.  Forty-five degrees (not too terribly cold) and pouring relentless rain.

I grabbed all the gear I would need, put on my rain pants and jacket, and drove to the closest mountain.  As I started up the trail I noticed the rain had begun to slow down.  Oh well, I thought, this will still be a decent test.

Within ten minutes the rain completely stopped.  Another mile up the trail I saw light breaking through the clouds.  Around mile two blue skies. All of a sudden it was a beautiful blue sky sunny day!

It gets better.

As I was coming down the mountain I looked up and through the trees was one of the brightest rainbows I have ever seen.  So much for testing my rain gear.

I guess I’ll have to test my rain gear another time, but I’m glad I went out.  Sometimes it really is all sunshine and rainbows ?

Good luck Amy all your trail be sunshine! Sounds good but I’m sure you’ll get to live in the rain gear for days on end.

    Happy trails
