Stories From The Trail Ep 11 – Mother’s Day Special: Miss Janet

The Appalachian Trail wouldn’t be what it is today without Miss Janet. It doesn’t take long for a new or aspiring thru-hiker to start hearing her name, and for good reason. She has made the trail and helping its hikers a priority for over a decade, and during that time thousands have benefited from their time with her. Meeting her is usually unforgettable. Riding in her van is like being scooped up by a tornado made of pure joy; that is, assuming you haven’t committed some newbie blunder. And if that’s the case, you’ll learn something.

Earlier this spring we were extremely lucky to get some time alone with Miss Janet. I hope you’ll join us as we talk about what real magic is, and what it means to be called an angel, and why so many AT hikers think of her as our very own Trail Mom.
