Testing Testing…1 2 3…

AKA this is my first post and I didn’t know what to title it.

Hello world! My name is Ashley and I’ll be thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail starting in 1 month with my husband, Chris!

The Next Month…

We have 2 weeks left of work, then one week to move out of our apartment, say our goodbyes and head to Georgia. We are renting a car and roadtripping down to Gainsville. “Why drive? There are faster ways to get there.” If we were concerned about getting places faster, we wouldn’t be walking over 2,000 miles… We are embarking on an adventure! Why not make it an adventure from the very beginning?! We’ll be taking a few days to drive to Georgia to explore some of the best breweries that the East coast has to offer (outside of New England)! Then we’ll arrive in Gainsville and have ourselves a good night’s rest (but actually a night of anxiously waiting for the sun to rise so we can get to the trail and have a day of “wow I wish I slept last night and didn’t pack so much” hiking)!

The Plan…

Chris and I are doing a NOBO-flip-flop-ish thru-hike. We will be, for the most part, hiking NOBO (North bound) starting in Georgia and hiking to Maine. The flip-flop-ish part will be in May. We’ll be returning to New England for 3 weeks to attend two weddings and an Army commissioning! So, in between these events, we’ll be hiking parts of the trail in Connecticut and Massachusetts. After the events, we’ll head back to where we left off and hike North. This way, we can attend these big events, keep our hiker legs that we will have worked so hard for by that point, and not lose many miles/time.

I’m so excited to be a blogger for Appalachian Trials! I hope you enjoy following our adventure! Thanks for reading!

-Ashley
