THE DECISION IS MADE

SIGNS AND WONDERS

I don’t believe that things randomly happen for no reason, I think that everything has a purpose and a time. (Don’t misunderstand me, not everything is a sign and there aren’t always signs when you want them. This is where Faith and Trust play a huge role.)

Not that I always listen, because I don’t or I’m too busy and not listening.

This time I am.

I get it God, I’m committing to hike the Appalachian Trail(AT).

NOT ONLY BLOGGING, BUT VLOGGING

The day I posted my first blog I also sent in a vlogg audition to record my thru hiking experience on the AT. I then hit the trail. Just my normal routine, day off, lets go hiking. The dogs need exercise and I need less noise.

I returned from a short jaunt to an unexpected e-mail from Zach Davis, founder/owner/editor of the Trek. They liked me. they wanted me to vlogg my experience.

I was in shock. I felt the overwhelming emotions sweep over me. I was going to be thru hiking the AT. I sat in the car trying not to bust out crying or maybe wanting to but not able. (I’m not a crier so those feelings are not my favorite).

MORE THAN I EXPECTED

Right away I messaged/texted my inner circle, I let them know that I would be hiking the AT!

I then “went public”.

I can not believe the support I received. So many positive comments and interactions. I think I expected negativity, because that’s what seems to be so prevalent in social media nowadays. I received some negative feedback about giving my dogs a chance to prove they could do it, but other than that people were supportive, nice even.

Some reached out to me about wanting to do it as well but not having the nerve. Others offered advice or just the offer that they were there if advice was needed/wanted. I’ve made some unexpected connections and friends.

I can not put into words how much that meant to me. How motivating it is to know that people are watching and experiencing every step with you.

PLANNING

I am now in the middle of planning.

Ordering books and trail guides. Checking my gear list and researching what I’ll need or the upgrades I’ll make. Hiking more miles. I’m excited. I’m nervous. This is going to be great!

I hope that you follow my vlog  and others on the Treks you tube!
