The Final Week

I just got invited to be an Appalachian Trials Blogger, and I am laying here on my living room floor typing this because I have nowhere else to sit. My house is void of furniture, except for my gear sitting in the corner. I am anxiously counting down the last 7 days I have with friends and family before I make the drive down to Georgia with my Mom and Stepdad and embark on this adventure. I plan on doing he approach trail on March 31st and Starting at the summit of Springer on April Fools Day… which is totally appropriate for me.. and of course IT’S GONNA BE RAINING!!

It Feels Like Christmas!!

And I feel like Santa Claus making a list and checking it twice… and three times.. and four times.. I finally feel comfortable with my gear with a 16lb base weight. I have entered the fuck everything else mindset as of yesterday and everything will work itself out in the end. My last shift at my hospital is on Easter, and after that I spend a few days with my dad setting up my mail drops, and then I am gone.

Thank you again to all my awesome family, friends, and coworkers supporting and following me during this. Especially my mom and dad.. This has not been easy for either one of them letting me go. I’m glad my mom has found a lady at work who’s daughter has previously done this… makes things a little easier for her.

For now, I have to meetup and say goodbye to a few more friends, I will be back with gear list soon.. Hope to meet many fellow hikers on the trail, see you all soon
