The Journey Begins

In less than 24 hours my mom and I will begin our trek from Georgia to Maine. The past two weeks have been filled with trip planning, packing and unpacking and repacking our gear, and spending time with family before our departure.

We also did a number of training hikes up in the mountains of Maine near my mom’s house, with my 8-year-old son Rowan tagging along. While out on these hikes, Rowan began asking us questions about our hike on the Appalachian Trail. He had some great questions, and I asked him if he’d like to conduct an interview with me before I left.

So here it is, Rowan’s interview with me, on the eve of my departure on this Appalachian Trail journey:

My wife Miranda, my son Rowan and I at the peak of Rumford White Cap in central Maine.
