My Trek Before the Trek

Hold on; I am just over here trying to comprehend why I am doing this. Not only why I want to hike or write, but why I want to share it all. It feels like my start date is so far away, and yet it is less than four months away (give or take a few days). So this time right now is my window for preparation in all ways. Physical, material, emotional, and spiritual. That is a lot to process but I am up for the challenge, and challenge is one of the main reasons I have concluded that I want/need to thru-hike. I guess I do have other reasons for hiking, though, so here are the ones that I can think of right now:

  1. Tune in to the real beauty of our natural spaces.
  2. Push myself further than I ever have.
  3. Prove to myself and others that I am not all talk, but instead, all action.
  4. Be immersed in a community of people with similar outlooks on life.
  5. Give God the time to teach me what it truly means to rely on Him at my highest and lowest moments.

Pretty good top five basic reasons, right? I also just want to have a little adventure, something to tell my kids about, write a book about, or to win whenever there is a “what is the most interesting fact about yourself?” game. Generally, I am not a very vulnerable person either, so blogging is my way of again pushing myself further than I ever have before. On that note, welcome to my inner thoughts, opinions, trail preparation, gear research, and emotional feelings about my upcoming walk in the woods.
