My Trek Before the Trek
Hold on; I am just over here trying to comprehend why I am doing this. Not only why I want to hike or write, but why I want to share it all. It feels like my start date is so far away, and yet it is less than four months away (give or take a few days). So this time right now is my window for preparation in all ways. Physical, material, emotional, and spiritual. That is a lot to process but I am up for the challenge, and challenge is one of the main reasons I have concluded that I want/need to thru-hike. I guess I do have other reasons for hiking, though, so here are the ones that I can think of right now:
- Tune in to the real beauty of our natural spaces.
- Push myself further than I ever have.
- Prove to myself and others that I am not all talk, but instead, all action.
- Be immersed in a community of people with similar outlooks on life.
- Give God the time to teach me what it truly means to rely on Him at my highest and lowest moments.
Pretty good top five basic reasons, right? I also just want to have a little adventure, something to tell my kids about, write a book about, or to win whenever there is a “what is the most interesting fact about yourself?” game. Generally, I am not a very vulnerable person either, so blogging is my way of again pushing myself further than I ever have before. On that note, welcome to my inner thoughts, opinions, trail preparation, gear research, and emotional feelings about my upcoming walk in the woods.
