Time for a break (727.8 miles)
After 52 days on the trail I’m taking a much anticipated vacation from the trail. As my original goal to get to Harpers Ferry, WV by this weekend was not realistic, I’m temporarily yellow blazing up to the area for some sightseeing with my family.
The only drawback to taking this much time off is losing pace with certain other hikers that I’ve been hiking with since April. Hopefully after a week of rest I will be able to put in some big miles and catch up. Stink Jacket, good luck as you journey into the mystic on your own!
Prior to getting off the trail, Stink Jacket, Red Corn, and I passed the 1/3 mark for miles completed on the AT and made it to scenic McAffe Knob and Tinker Cliffs.
McAfee Knob
One of them fancy privies on the trail
More Epic Trail Magic! Thanks to the New River Valley Sierra Group. After this delicous feast Stink Jacket and I struggled through four painful hours to cover five miles to camp…
A little shelter humor…if only there was wifi
Audie Murphy Memorial, Murphy was the most decorated American soldier from WWII, he tragically died in a plane crash near the AT.
The trail gets a little tricky on the decent from Dragons Tooth.
Made it DC, time to relax!
