Trail Magic Comes Just When You Need It!

Things are clicking into place. Breakfast, break down your campsite, hike a few miles, get water from a nice runoff, snack, share a few stories, then BAM. Trail magic… to spoil the hiker…

Animal, the Aussie, with his sidekick Freeloader, runs back to us on the trail saying he’s found a gold mine! At Hickory Flats Cemetery and Pavilion there were a ton of coolers with drinks, food, and fixins… enter Butch, Jack. and Quentin. They say, “Y’all stayin’ for lunch?”

These gentlemen cooked up venison, cabbage w onions, potatoes, and hush puppies…..What a spread! Thank you guys for a tummy full of Georgia homestyle goodness.

The day ends at Hawk Mountain shelter at mile 8.1 with 37 other tents, hammocks, and lean-to’s for the most perfect day.
