Trying out the gear!!

Trying out the gear!

As my thru-hike draws closer I am making sure my gear works well.
I’ve done other thru hikes just not as long as The Appalachian Trail.

Packing and unpacking…dialing it all in. Using my gear at home in all kinds of weather so I can change anything that needs changing before I head out on trail.
It was important to me that I understood my gear and how it worked before I left and even though I’ve done other hikes I wanted to reacquaint myself with it.
Like for instance..how to throw a bear bag line again and setting up my tent and so on…
What kind of things do you do before you set out on an extended trip?

I download books to my Samsung sandisk to listen to on the trail or in evenings. Lasts 4 times as long. My little personal time luxury. I test my phone with chargers and airplane mode so I can gauge how long it will last. I spend a lot of time with making sure my inreach maps are done as the app is very temperamental
