I may not have gotten to see the eclipse yesterday but I did get to see this beautiful sunset!

8/21/17- NO! I WASN'T READY! NOOOOO!!!! I knew this day would come eventually…. getting to the best state in the country also meant leaving it again. The Whites were incredible and also kicked my ass. Despite the fact that they don't seem to love me back, those mountains are still my favorite place in the world. I'll be back soon though!! One last state on this epic adventure, and I'm already feeling nostalgic for it. How on earth am I going to go back to my normal boring life after this? What if I just stayed on the AT forever, would that really be so bad? – – #appalachiantrail #appalachiantrials #appalachiantrail2017 #thetrek #trektheat #stateline #newhampshire #maine #granitestateofmind #whitemountains #iwasntready #youcantmakeme #hike #hiker #hikerchick #hikertrash #foreverhomeless

If only I could have ended my hike here and lived in this cabin forever…

Day 156, Aug 19, mi 1816.7: We were able to escape the rain and spend yesterday in town. As we were about to leave the Notch Hostel on this morning, we got a message from Marcus saying we could spend a night at his place. We had been connected with Marcus through Ben Palsha, who Brady knows through Operation Barnabas. We decided to take him up on the offer and then slackpacked ourselves 16 miles! It was a beautiful day hiking over Mt Kinsman. We arrived at Lonesome Lake in the evening, popped into the hut for some water, and stood in awe at the view over to Franconia Ridge. This spot may be my favorite on trail. When we finished for the day, Marcus sent someone to pick us up and welcomed us to his home with delicious wood-fired pizza in an oven he just finished making earlier this week! Marcus is a pastor at Loon Mtn Ministeries. He has been blessed with a big house and opens it to feed and minister to everyone around him. We really enjoyed spending time with his family, but of course I forgot to get a picture. #franconiaridge #at2017 #trektheat #thruhike #appalachiantrail #thewhites

Sunrise over Mt. Garfield as we climbed up Mt Lafayette. Because we were SOBO-curious and did a section north to south and, even though I got caught up with so many old hiking buddies as we crossed paths along the way, I don't think SOBO is my kind of lifestyle. Crossed Franconia ridge on eclipse day and got trail magic in the form of special eclipse glasses from lots of people excited about celestial phenomena and eager to share. I love when trail magic extends so far beyond food and sodas (though food and sodas are great , too)! . . . . #trailmagic #whiteblaze #sheexplores #womenwhohike #appalachiantrail #appalachiantrials #appalachiantrail2017 #appalachiantrailclassof2017 #flipflop #thetrek #thruhiker #trektheAT #thruhiking #thruhikingtheat
