The back of my neck and my shoulders are sunburnt because I spent way too much time at the top of Baldpate Mountain today. It was hot. But I sat by this cairn and titled my face up to the fluffy white clouds and wondered if this is how birds feel: like they have a view of everything. We had this mountain to ourselves and I couldn't help but be happy for the solitude. The Whites were incredible, but I felt chaotic amidst the crowded peaks, and I am happy to be here now. #trektheAT
Don't let anyone rush you through this gorgeous experience, not even yourself. It's not a thing to "get through," and if you're thinking "let's get this shit over with," it may be time to go home (Ringo). Sunrise over Upper Goose Pond, a moment to savor before a special treat for hikers–a pancake breakfast made by the light of headlamps. Only on the AT, y'all! . . . #appalachiantrailclassof2017 #appalachiantrail2017 #appalachiantrials #appalachiantrail #thetrek #thruhikingtheat #thruhiker #trektheAT #thruhikingtheat #uppergoosepondcabin
Most terrifying and difficult climb of the Appalachian Trail complete. Mt. Katahdin "This was that Earth of which we have heard, made out of Chaos and Old Night.…Man was not to be associated with it. It was Matter, vast, terrific…rocks, trees, wind on our cheeks!" -Thoreau #at2017 #appalachiantrials #appalachiantrail #thetrek #trektheat #flipflopthruhike
