Day 11 | 11 miles We decided to slow our pace down because we were struggling to enjoy our days. After getting a swift talking to from Jonathan at Outdoor 76, we realized that we were pushing too much. It takes time to get trail legs, and they will come. ———————————————————————————— We took a break at Silers Bald, and had a fun and leisurely day talking and laughing at ourselves. ———————————————————————————— At Wayah Bald we missed views due to cloud cover and a snow storm. It snowed at dinner time at the shelter but we laughed as I burnt my dinner. ———————————————————————————— #AT2019 #trektheAT #appalchiantrail #hiking #thruhiking #thruhiker #adventurealways #mountaingirl #backpacking #wanderlust #adventuretime #exploremore #girlswhohike #girlswhoexolore #mtngirls #guthook #guthookguides #gossamergear #backpackerradio #AT

Day 9 Miles: 16 Total milage: 109.5 Weather: High of 47, low of 23. Sunny and beautiful all day. Carter Gap Shelter to Winding Stair Gap. We passed 100 miles today!! We climbed Albert Mountain to reach a fire tower, and then climbed up that. We’ve been hearing about how steep Albert Mountain is for a few days, and it was quite the climb but so worth it for the views! We were going to stop at 12 miles, but pushed to 16 miles so we could make it into town and sleep inside as the temp overnight was in the low 20’s. So glad we pushed through and slept inside! I stayed at Baltimore Jack’s hostel with PYT, Chipper and Sydney. It was not the best hostel, but it was warm.

AT| Day 29| NORTH CAROLINA/TENNESSEE| Hughes Gap to US19E| Miles; 21.4| Total Miles; 395.2| WOTD; Everything| Winter Wonderoanaland| Another state down as I officially crossed the NC/TN state border for the last time after weeks of flirting with each other. And my oh my North Carolina, you can be sure I will never forget you. Today had it all. Snow, ice, mud, wind, falls, pain and unbelievable beauty. Today was the hardest day so far as I summited Roan mountain and hiked across the highlands. Falling on the ice, pain in my knee for miles and then climbing little hump with gusts of wind that threw me to the floor, made climbing 8 miles in 2-4 inches of snow seem like the easiest part of the day. There were tears. Friends just at the right moment got me to my destination. I will likely take a zero tomorrow to rest and recover physically and mentally from the last few days. I was under no illusion that this experience was going to be tough and I relished the thought of it. But even I got a bit of a shock at the severity of everything today||

Day 10 & 11: 10.9 —— Took another zero with the trail family to fully heal up. Hiked out on day eleven after a delicious pancake breakfast and found Siler Bald ? My favorite view so far! It started to hail on us halfway through the day and we didn’t get a view on Wayah Bald. Rolled into camp where it started to really come down. It was a snowy wonderland. Falling asleep to snow is way better than falling asleep to rain. —— #hikertrash #appalachiantrail #snowy #nobo2019 #thruhike #trektheat #wayahbald #silerbald #pancakes #thruhiker #at2019 #camp #georgiatomaine #hike #hiking #outdoors #optoutside #travel #adventure #backpacking #wanderlust #camping #campvibes #takeahike #atc #choosemountains #getoutside #ultralight #wondermore #travelstoke

AT DAY 10 – Just keep following the white blazes and realize that sometimes you will wake up to ice and snow covering your tent. #vivalamaine
