@kov2mph & I cowboy camped on top of this beautiful little cabin last night, fell asleep under a cloudless sky filled with more stars than I’ve ever seen, and woke up to watch the sunrise over cloud covered mountains without even getting out of our sleeping bags. I love being a thru hiker

We have been hearing about Upper Goose Pond shelter for the past 1000 miles, and we FINALLY stayed there last night to see what all the hype was about. It was awesome! It has bunks with mattresses, a front porch with rocking chairs, a canoe to take on the pond, and volunteer caretakers that make pancakes and coffee for the hikers! Needless to say, we took a short day to enjoy all the amenities. The coffee and pancakes absolutely hit the spot in the morning and it was the perfect day for a swim.

Because not all of it is stunning views. Not all of it is wilderness and serenity. Not all of it is an immaculately curated Instagram photo of a mountain sunset. Some of it is being lost in strange towns. Some of it is feeling like you don’t belong anywhere. And some of it is doing a reverse rain dance in Walmart to get a bit of good weather.
