Welcome To My AT
Well I’m starting this thing kinda late. I’m already over a month into my fall/winter SOBO AT hike. But on the bright side this means I already have a ton to talk about.
First a little about me. I come from an army family and grew up in quite a few places across the south and even a little time in Germany. My dad retired in Asheville, Nc and that is 100% of where my Appalachian Trail calling comes from and where I fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since then I’ve felt that calling to hike the trail. But it never really seemed possible between time and money, it really is a commitment.
Since then I’ve moved around a bunch. I went to the University of South Florida studying anthropology more specifically bioarchaeology. Long story short, I’ve been spending a lot of time out West, Washington and Montana mostly, when I got a huge opportunity to work in Glacier national park this summer in the backcountry for 3 months without coming out. That of course results in saving a bunch of money because I couldn’t spend it and how I am able to take the time to hike the trail, that I have always wanted to hike!
But enough on that, now you know a little about me and how I got to the trail. From now on I’ll talk about the ups, downs, and sideways of the trail.
