Hey there! I'm Bernadette...or Short Stick, a trail name my husband bestowed upon me due to my comically short trekking poles that surely belong to an Ewok as opposed to a vertically challenged adult human being. Having just finished 250 miles NOBO on the John Muir Trail (and then some), I'm officially addicted to thru-hiking and can't wait to get back out there. Until then, I'll be writing all about my hiking adventures here and elsewhere as a published freelance writer/photographer for Fodor's Travel, Trails Magazine, Business Insider and Territory Supply. I'm located in the Pacific Northwest but will roam wherever adventure takes me. See you out there! Pssst... You want to get social on TikTok? It's my favorite way to connect AND many of these blog posts will have accompanying videos! https://www.tiktok.com/@a.wanderfull.life
