Hey! My name is Laurie, and I dabble in backpacking. In a long-ago life, it would take me 3 days to pack the pickup for a camping trip, and it was exhausting! When I met a fella who carried all his camping gear on his back, I was in! I married that guy, and we honeymooned on the first 6 segments of the Colorado Trail. Together, we have since done portions of the Arizona Trail from the Grand Canyon to Flagstaff, the small but mighty Kalalau Trail, and the entire Maah Daah Hey Trail in our home state of North Dakota. This summer, we plan to hike the Centennial Trail in South Dakota. When I’m not on a trail or planning to be on a trail, I get to spend my time putting together events for local children with our parks and recreation district. You can also find me regularly on roller skates! I love to teach kids this “ancient” sport, and it helps me keep my balance steady for all those crazy trails out there!
