Week One: A Long Awaited Journey
It was 4am. I was wide awake. What could possibly be on my mind?? Oh, that’s right. A 2,190 mile walk. All of the packing and planning had been done. My bag was sitting by the door waiting for me. All that was left to do, really, was to go.
The Why Behind the Walk
When I tell people that I’m planning to hike the Appalachian Trail, the question I get asked the most is “You’re not going alone, are you?” After that, it’s “Wait, the whole thing?” But rarely, if ever, have I been asked “Why?” So when the time came for me to ask “Why,” it was only to myself I had to answer. I thought on it, for a long time. And I wrote down a list.
